UPass

Welcome! The CTA U-Pass is your ticket to UNLIMITED rides aboard CTA buses and trains. Use your U-Pass on CTA bus/rail system anytime, anywhere. It's your connection to shopping, sports events, social activities, art and entertainment centers, and all the Chicago hot spots. CTA Everywhere you need to be! - take it.

Important Facts About U-Pass:

Offers full-time students unlimited rides on any CTA bus or train during an academic term.
Replaces cash for all CTA fares - no cash is needed.
Does not require a transfer or surcharge.
Valid for travel on PACE suburban buses.
Not valid for travel on Metra commuter trains.
For full-time students only. The cards of students who drop to part-time status will be deactivated.

Procedures

New students and students who did not have a UPASS the previous quarter will need to have their photo taken by a CTA representative who will be on campus during the first few days of the quarter. The CTA representative will review the student official schedule to ensure that they are full time, then will take their photo and issue a UPASS on the spot. If a student cannot see the CTA representative when they are on campus, they must have their photo taken in the Student Affairs office as soon as possible. The Student Affairs representative will send the photo to the CTA to have a UPASS made. The CTA will then send the UPASS to the Student Affairs Office where the student can pick it up. This process takes 7-10 business days.

Students who received a UPASS the previous quarter and are registered as full-time students in the current quarter, will have a UPASS pre-printed for them. It will be available for pick up during the first week of classes.

If a student received a UPASS the previous quarter but registered late for the current quarter, their UPASS may not be pre-printed. They will need to have their photo taken by the CTA representative on campus the first few days of classes.

If your card is lost or stolen, bring your valid Illinois Institute of Art- Chicago ID and $35 (cash, credit, or money order) replacement fee to the CTA Customer Service center at 567 W Lake Street, 2nd floor. The $35 replacement fee is non-refundable. Replacement cards are sent to the Student Affairs Office at the Illinois Institute of Art-Chicago within 7-10 business days after the request.
